A pair of late nineteenth to early twentieth century art nouveau or Jugenstil vases, with aesthetic movement inspired all-over vegetal pattern decoration in blue and white. The vases feature vignettes with lake and cabin motifs of the front, with vases of flowers on the back. Produced by the renowned Swedish ceramics firm Rörstrand, founded in 1726. Such art nouveau or jugendstil designs were produced by Rörstrand after the painter, designer and craftsman Alf Wallander (1862-1914) joined the firm in 1895. Wallander was made the art director at Rörstrand in 1900. The amphora-like shapes of these vases are typical of the organic, flowing style of Wallander designs. Height 28.5cm.
