Pair of Candle Holders With Owl Decor by GAB Ori, Sweden, 1930s

A pair of candle holders with owl decoration, by GAB Ori, Sweden, dating  to the 1930s. The renowned Swedish designer Jacob Ängman was artistic director at GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget or Goldsmiths Company) where in the 1920s he developed and patented a technique for producing bronzed 'babbitt' metal, most likely a pewter base, which he called Ori. This enabled a bronze like surface to form a background and feature silver designs in stark and dramatic contrast. Height 7 cm x Diameter 9.5 cm. Sold as a pair.
