This beautiful pewter vase is heavy for its size, indicating its quality. The modernist-functionalist globe form with incised bands is embellished with more ornate, foliate handles, a nod to classical antiquity, a combination typical of Swedish Grace. Produced in Sweden in 1939 by leading manufacturer GAB (an abbreviation of Guldsmedsaktiebolaget or Goldsmiths' Company), a highly respected metalworking and silversmith company. Founded in 1868 in Eskiltuna, Sweden, the artistic director from 1907 to 1942 was the renowned designer Jacob Ängman. The base of this vase is hallmarked with the manufacturer's logo, GAB Tenn (meaning GAB Pewter), along with the date stamp N8, and bears traces of its original paper label. Height: 12 cm, Width: 15 cm, Depth/Diameter:12 cm
