Set of two pewter vases by Just Andersen, Denmark, c.1920s-1930s

Renowned and now highly collected Danish sculptor and designer Just Andersen (1884-1943) created these vases. Made of cast pewter they date from the 1920s or 1930s. Andersen was in born in Greenland and originated an alloy he named Disko metal after Disko Bay in Greenland. In his early career he worked for the famed firm of Georg Jensen, before opening his own brand company in 1918. He also contributed numerous designs to the Swedish firm GAB (Guldsmedsaktiebolaget). They bear the visible signs of their age but are still a beautiful pair. Each vase measures Height: 9.5 cm, Width: 13 cm, Depth: 7.7 cm
