Isolit Dish with Silver Inlay of Deer, Perstorp, 1964

A beautiful dish made from Isolit, a high grade black bakelite or resin, which has been inlaid with silver decoration in the form of two deer at rest. Such decorative objects were produced by the firm Perstorp, which specialised in industrial plastics, from the 1920s onwards on the initiative of the owner's daughter Wilhelmina Wendt (1896-1988), who became the principal designer. From the late 1920s, Wendt pioneered the use of isolit in decorative objects and jewellery in combination with silver inlay. She was the first woman in Sweden to be granted the title of "master silversmith". The designs are rooted in the era of Swedish Grace and Art Deco. Height 3cm x diameter 17.2cm.
